Kitchen Remodeling in Chicago

A kitchen is a cabinet layout with a building around it. Settling the cabinets first is what stops the rest of the job becoming rework.

Selena Group’s owner also owns a kitchen cabinet company and has designed well over 2,000 kitchens. That changes how a floor plan gets read: the cabinet run, the appliance positions and the clearances between them are known before the framing goes up, rather than discovered when the cabinets arrive.

It is the same discipline the commercial side runs on. Decisions are made up front, materials are bought in volume, and the trades are sequenced against a plan — because on a remodel the expensive part is rarely the materials, it is rebuilding something that was already built once.

A kitchen often does not need an architect drawing its walls. Where the building department will accept a contractor’s own wall layout, we produce it, and the client is not paying twice for the same drawing. Where the scope does require stamped drawings, a permit, or inspections, those are filed and booked in the normal way.

How the work runs

Sequenced so the kitchen is opened once

Cabinetry, services and finishes are coordinated as one schedule.

  • Layout and selections

The cabinet layout and appliance positions are fixed first, so framing, plumbing and electrical are set to them.

  • Demolition and systems

Demolition, framing changes and services happen as one phase, so walls are only opened once.

  • Licensed trades

The plumbers, electricians and HVAC subcontractors on the job are licensed, and each stage is inspected as it completes.

  • Cabinets, tops and finish

Cabinetry, countertops, flooring and trim close the job out, ending with a snag list and a walkthrough with you.

Common questions

Before you request an estimate

Do you supply the cabinets?

We can. Material supply can be managed alongside the construction, or we install cabinetry you have selected and purchased.

Can the kitchen layout change?

Yes. Layout changes, wall removal and relocating services are part of a full kitchen renovation, along with the permits those changes require.

Do you take on small repair jobs?

No. The work is focused on complete kitchen renovations rather than single-item replacements.
